今回は、準２級のQuestion No.1（本文に関する問い）について解説します。

準２級のQuestion No.1の特徴
下の英文を20秒間で黙読した後、音読をします。

準２級のQuestion No.1の考え方
Using Reusable Bottles
Plastic has become a problem because it is bad for the environment. Many people today try to use less plastic in their daily lives. For example, some students bring their own bottles to school instead of buying plastic ones. By doing so, they can help reduce trash and protect the environment.
Questionの“how can some students help reduce trash and protect the environment”
→本文の“they can help reduce trash and protect the environment.”が該当します。
Questionの“how”
→本文の“By doing so ”に着目します。
→“so”なので、前の文を見ます。
→“some students bring their own bottles to school instead of buying plastic ones.”を見つけます。
→“some students”は、Questionに出てきているので、“They”に置き換えます。
some students のままだと、１点減点になります。
もったいないので、必ず代名詞に置き換えましょう！
【Answer1】They bring their own bottles to school instead of buying plastic ones.
howで手段をきかれているので、 “By doing”で答えることもできます。
【Answer2】By bringing their own bottles to school instead of buying plastic ones.
準２級のQuestion No.1の対策
①必ず本文にQuestionと同じ表現があるので、そこを見つけます。
②By doing soをヒントに直前が解答に関わると判断できます。
※In this wayやso, as a resultなどの場合もあるが、考え方は同じです。
③主語の代名詞化は意外と見落とされがちです。“Some families”や“Some people”が本文に出てきたら、“They”に置き換えて答えることを忘れずに！
黙読のときに、in this wayやby doing so, as a result などを見つけておきましょう！そこがQuestion 1です。
