英検®︎二次試験に不安を感じている人は多いと思います。中でも最初の質問「Question No.1」は、しっかり準備すれば確実に得点できるパートです。今回はそのポイントを徹底的に解説します！

また、新たにできた準2級プラスと2級との違いについても触れていくので、どちらの級にするかを迷っている人は参考にしてください。

準２級プラスのQuestion No.1の特徴

下の英文を20秒間で黙読した後、音読をします。

Helping Students

Many students feel nervous before important tests and need support. Now, there is a new way to help them. To reduce their stress, specially trained dogs are used at schools. Students hold these dogs when they feel sad or stressed, and by doing so they can feel more confident and perform better on their exams.

音読の後に想定されるQuestion は、

準２級プラスのQuestion No.1のポイント

Helping Students

Questionの“how can students feel more confident and perform better on their exams”

→本文の“they can feel more confident and perform better on their exams.”が該当します。

Questionの“how”

→該当文にある“by doing so”に着目します。

→“doing so”なので、前の文を見ます。

→“Students hold these dogs when they feel sad or stressed”

→このままだと“these dogs”が何なのかわかりません。

→さらに前に戻って“specially trained dogs”を見つけます。

Students hold specially trained dogs when they feel sad or stressed.

→“Students”は、Questionに出てきているので、“They”に置き換えます。

【Answer1】They hold specially trained dogs when they feel sad or stressed.

howで手段をきかれているので、 “By doing”で答えることもできます。

【Answer2】By holding specially trained dogs when they feel sad or stressed.

２級との違い

２級との違いは、読む英文の分量のみで、準2級プラスは2級よりも語数がやや少ない（1文・15語程度）です。ただ、肝心の問いと答え方は同じです。

二次試験での最大の違いは、Question No.2のイラスト問題なので、合わせてこちらも確認してみてください。

準２級プラスのQuestion No.1の対策

①必ず本文にQuestionと同じ表現があるので、そこを見つけます。

②by doing soをヒントに直前が解答に関わると判断できます。

※In this wayやso, as a resultなどの場合もありますが、考え方は同じです。

③準2級プラスでは、答えとなる部分に代名詞を含んでいるので、その内容をさらに一つ前の文から探します。

④主語の代名詞化は意外と見落としがちです。“Some families”や“Some people”が本文に出てきたら、“They”に置き換えて答えることを忘れずに！

黙読のときに、by doing so（in this wayやas a result なども）を見つけておきましょう！そこがQuestion 1です。
