英検の2次試験が不安な人は多いと思います。今回、その不安を払拭できる記事を書いたので、ぜひ参考にしていただいて、自信を持って臨んでください。
本記事では、実際に英検を受けたたくさんの生徒から聴き取りをすることで、英検によく出る表現と答え方をまとめました。どんな答え方をしたら5点になる可能性が高いか、そしてその練習方法と想定問題演習を用意しました。

今回は、２級のQuestion No.3&4（意見＆理由・説明）について解説します。

２級のQuestion No.3と4の特徴
Question No.3と4に入る前に、面接官が
Please turn over the card and put it down.
と言います。
つまり、Question No.3と4はQuestion No.1と2で扱った面接カードとは無関係の内容です。
Question No.3
面接官がある意見について触れた後、”What do you think about that?”と質問します。例えば、
Some people say that people today spend too much money on health supplements.
What do you think about that?
皆さんは、“What do you think about that?”と質問されているので、まず”I agree.”か”I disagree.”で答えます。
その後に、その理由や説明を答えます。
Question No.4
面接官がある現象について触れた後、“Do you think~?”と質問します。
Today, many Japanese people work in foreign countries.
Do you think the number of these people will increase in the future?
皆さんは、“Do you think~?”と質問されているので、まずYes.かNo.で答えます。
その後に、その理由や説明を答えます。
２級のQuestion No.3と4のポイント
例を見てわかるように、個人的な事柄ではなく、社会的な一般論について扱われているので、理由と説明を述べる際には一人称単数の “I”は使わないようにしましょう。
また、理由や説明は２文で答える必要があります。
１文しか答えていない生徒の評点は良くても3点です。難しい内容を話す必要はありません。
理由や説明を２つを思いつく練習が満点５のカギです！
Question No.3の解答例
I agree. They should not depend on them. They should review their eating habits and get some moderate exercise.
Question No.4の解答例
No. More people are working online. Also, they can have online meeting with people in foreign countries more easily than before.
２つの理由や説明をいかに簡単な内容で思いつけるかがカギです。
日本語だとついつい難しい内容を考えてしまうので、小さい子どもに話すような内容で考えると良いですよ。

Question No.3と4は、英検2級の二次試験の中でも「自分の考えを説明する力」が試される重要なパートです。以下の3点を意識して対策しましょう。
Yes/NoやAgree/Disagreeをはっきり言う！
→ 質問の形式に合わせて、最初のひと言で立場を明確にしましょう。
理由や説明は2文で！
→ 難しい内容よりも、わかりやすくて自然な英語を2文つなげることが大切です。
一般論で答える！
→ 個人の体験ではなく、社会的な視点で述べるようにしましょう。Iではなく、Peopleなどを使いましょう。
シンプルに答える！
→ 小さい子どもに話すつもりで内容を考えましょう。

Some people say that more people should use public transportation.
What do you think about that?
I agree. It’s better for the environment. Also, it can help reduce traffic jams.
I disagree. Some people need to use cars for work. Also, public transportation is not always convenient in rural areas.
Question No.4想定問題
Today, many people read books on smartphones or tablets.
Do you think paper books will disappear in the future?
Yes. Digital books are cheaper and easier to carry. Also, many people enjoy reading on their phones.
No. Some people still like the feeling of real books. Also, reading paper books is better for their eyes.
