英検の2次試験が不安な人は多いと思います。今回、その不安を払拭できる記事を書いたので、ぜひ参考にしていただいて、自信を持って臨んでください。
本記事では、実際に英検を受けたたくさんの生徒から聴き取りをすることで、英検によく出る表現と答え方をまとめました。どんな答え方をしたら5点になる可能性が高いか、そしてその練習方法と想定問題演習を用意しました。

今回は、準２級のQuestion No.4 & 5（意見＆理由・説明）について解説します。

２級のQuestion No.4と5の特徴
Question No.4と5に入る前に、試験官から
Please turn over the card and put it down.
と言われます。
つまり、Question No.4と5はQuestion No.1〜3で扱った面接カードとは無関係の内容です。
Question No.4
日常生活の身近な事柄について、面接官が、“Do you think ~?”と質問します。例えば、
Do you think bookstores in Japan will sell more foreign books in the future?
皆さんは、“Do you think ~?”と質問されているので、まずYes.かNo.で答えます。
その後に、その理由や説明を答えます。
Question No.5
面接官がある現象について触れた後、“Do you ~?”と質問します。例えば、
In Japan, many people like to go fishing in summer. Do you usually go fishing in summer?
皆さんは、“Do you ~?”と質問されているので、まずYes.かNo.で答えます。
その後に、その理由や説明を答えます。
２級のQuestion No.4と5のポイント
Question No.4は、個人的な事柄ではなく、社会的な一般論について尋ねられているので、理由と説明を述べる際には一人称単数の “I”は使わないようにしましょう。
一方、Question No.5は、個人的な事柄を尋ねられているので、理由と説明を述べる際には一人称単数の “I”を使って大丈夫です。
どちらのQuestionも、理由や説明は２文で答える必要があります。
１文しか答えていない生徒の評点は良くても3点です。難しい内容を話す必要はありません。
理由や説明を２つを思いつく練習が満点のカギです！
Question No.4の解答例
Yes. Many people want to read foreign books. Also people from overseas may want to read books in their languages.
Question No.5の解答例
No. It’s too hot to go fishing during the summer in Japan. I usually go fishing in spring and autumn.
２つの理由や説明をいかに簡単な内容で思いつけるかがカギです。
日本語だとついつい難しい内容を考えてしまうので、小学生に話すような内容で考えると良いですよ。

まとめ
Question No.4と5は、英検準2級の二次試験の中でも「自分の考えを説明する力」が試される重要なパートです。以下の3点を意識して対策しましょう。
Yes/Noをはっきり言う！
→ 質問の形式に合わせて、最初のひと言で立場を明確にしましょう。
理由や説明は2文で！
→ 難しい内容よりも、わかりやすくて自然な英語を2文つなげることが大切です。
Question No.4は、一般論で答える！
→ 個人の体験ではなく、社会的な視点で理由を述べるようにしましょう（Iではなく、Peopleなどを使う）。
シンプルに答える！
→ 小さい子どもに話すつもりで内容を考えましょう。

Yes. Social media and online communities are becoming more popular. Also, people can easily meet others who share the same interests, even if they live far away.

Question No.5想定問題
These days, many people enjoy buying or selling things online. Do you usually buy or sell something online?
Yes. Things online are often very cheap. Also, there are many kinds of things sold online.
No. Online shopping is very dangerous. I’d rather buy things at regular stores.
