2025年度から始まった英検®準2級プラスでは、新しく要約問題が出題されるようになりました。
「実際にどんな問題が出るの？」
「模範解答を見ながら練習したい！」
「25～35語にまとめるのが難しい……」
このように感じている人も多いと思います。
要約問題は、解き方を理解したうえで、実際に問題を解くことが何より大切です。
この記事では、準2級プラスの問題形式を確認したあと、オリジナル例題と模範解答を使って、要約問題の解き方を実践的に学んでいきます。

英検準2級プラス要約問題の問題形式
準2級プラスの要約問題では、100語程度の英文を読み、その内容を25～35語の英語でまとめます。
ポイントは次の3つです。
長い英文をすべて書き換える必要はありません。
「何について書かれているか」「どんな点が述べられているか」を押さえることが大切です。
「要約＝短くする作業」ではなく、「段落構造を読む作業」です。
英検準2級プラス要約問題の頻出テーマ
準2級プラスでは、高校生にとって身近なテーマが出題されます。
例えば、
オンライン学習
SNSの利用
ボランティア活動
環境問題
健康・運動
地域活動
テクノロジー
などです。
難しい知識を問う問題ではありません。
普段から英語の記事やニュースに触れ、身近な話題に慣れておくと読みやすくなります。

Many students today use online learning. It allows them to study whenever they want and learn from home.
There are several advantages to online learning. Students can save commuting time and review recorded lessons when necessary. In addition, they can learn at their own pace. Some schools now offer more online classes than before.
However, online learning also has some disadvantages. Students have fewer chances to communicate directly with teachers and classmates. Some students may also find it difficult to stay motivated.

要約問題で意識したいポイント
① キーワードだけを拾う
すべての情報を書こうとすると語数オーバーになります。
「なくても意味が通じる情報」は思い切って省きましょう。
② 接続語を使う
because

などを使うと、短くてもまとまりのある英文になります。
③ 25～35語を意識する
短すぎると情報不足になり、長すぎると余分な内容が入っている可能性があります。
書き終わったら、必ず語数を確認しましょう。
